HMD Legal was set up in 2020 by Hannah Dowling with one aim; to provide a seamless and personal service for a range of clients across Yorkshire by modernising Conveyancing processes. Formally known as HMD Property Consultancy, HMD Legal have now developed and expanded into a larger group of lawyers working across the UK.

HMD Legal is made up of Solicitors and Conveyancers who specialises in Property Law matters including sale and purchase matters, re-mortgage, assent, transfer of equity matters including complex transfers of part, first registration formalities, lease extensions, new-build transactions, right to buy and shared ownership leases.

HMD Legal is a trading style of Newman Law LLP and is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority under SRA number 8012209 with its registered office in Whitby.

HMD Legal is a digital and almost paperless firm. This enables the team to provide an efficient service and minimise usual transactional delays that you may experience with traditional law firms. Since 2020, the company has grown and now consists of teams operating both remotely and from offices in Whitby & Loftus, North Yorkshire. It is here that clients are welcome to visit however most of the communication can now be done online or over the phone ensuring flexibility around the working day. HMD Legal’s approach to modernising legal practice has improved organisation, collaboration and efficiency resulting in two consecutive awards for recognition in the industry in 2022 and 2023.

I used HMD Legal to sell and buy a new house. All members of the team were available to ask questions, whenever I needed, overall great communication. I was given the name of one solicitor and her assistant who I dealt with. There was no passing back and forth to other people. They knew where we were at, and what needed doing and got it done. The onward purchase was very difficult and without the knowledge and persistence of Newman Law, I am convinced that the purchase would have to be postponed. I cannot have been happier with their service and cost, and would not hesitate to recommend to others.

I recently used the services of Hannah Dowling, at the Whitby branch of Newman Law. I absolutely cannot recommend her enough. From beginning to end, the level of service that I received from both Hannah and her assistant Nicola was second to none. We’ve recently used HMD Legal solicitors. Hannah Dowling and Nicole peacock. Buying our first home was one of most stressful processes however when it came to our solicitors they were brilliant, really supportive and really worked hard to get us in our home in a time frame. Kept us updated and informed throughout the whole process, Nicole would always get back to me with information and advice I asked . If any issue arose Hannah would take it into her hands and solve these and fight our corner, in other words do everything she could so the process went smoothly and Was less stress for me and my partner. I will highly recommended this solicitors to anyone who seeks one in future. Many thanks to everyone at HMD Legal who contributed and helped us get our first home.
